Studies on the Experimental Hemolytic Anemia in Rabbit Injected with Antirabbit Erythrocyte Hen-Serum

Abstract
The biphasic anemia developed in rabbits following injection with antirabbit erythrocyte hen-serum. Author attempted some seroimmunological and hematological tests to this biphasic anemia. The results obtained were as follows.
1. The hemagglutination and hemolytic tests with trypsinized rabbit erythrocytes to antirabbit erythrocyte hen-serum in rabbits following injection with antirabbit erythrocyte hen-serum were positive from 3rd day to 15th day after injection.
2. Direct antiglobulin tests to rabbit sera following injected with antirabbit erythrocyte hen-serumwere all positive at primary anemia and partially positive at secondary anemia. Indirect antig¡©lobulin tests were all positive at primary and secondary anemia.
3. At anemia, hematological findings were as follows:
1) Hemoglobins decreased but color indeces increased.
2) Reticulocytosis, spherocytosis, thrombocytopenia, and leucopenia were occurred.
3) Erythrocyte fragilities and potassium ion in serum increased.
4. Primary anemia was occurred on 3rd-5th day and secondary anemia was occurred on 75th-85th day in rabbit following injection with antirabbit erythrocyte hen-serum. Severe anemia appeared at primary anemia and mild anemia at secondary anemia mainly.
